HOW TO PLAY. Foosball is a popular table-top soccer game, also known as table soccer or table football. With a physical foosball table, two to four players control two foosball teams set against each other on the table. In this case, it's the Blue Team versus the Red Team!
To control the individual foosball players on the table, you spin and slide handles that have one or more of these player figures attached.
For example, the goalie bar has a single player figure, the goalie. In contrast, the forwards (Attack) bar has three player figures attached. Each team controls four rows of players.
The action in this game can sometimes be fast paced, so I try to keep one eye on my goalie at all times to make sure he's in position to block goal attempts from the other team.
The idea is to kick the ball into the other team's goal for points. At the same time, you need to defend your own team's goal.
This free online foosball replicates the action of a real foosball table. Except that instead of physically sliding and spinning handles, you press keys on the keyboard.
In this game, you control the position of the handles, but you don't spin the handles as in regular foosball. Instead, when the ball touches one of your player figures, it "kicks" the ball automatically. It reminds me of the action of a pinball bumper in that regard.
MODES OF GAME PLAY. To begin, click either the blue icon showing two shaking hands or the red icon showing a trophy. The first mode is individual game Scrimmage mode. The second mode is Championship mode. Championship mode consists of five levels of play that you have to unlock, in order.
The current game's score is displayed at the top center of the game. To mute the game sound, click the Speaker icon in the upper right. You can also temporarily halt the current foosball game by clicking the Pause button in the upper right.
SINGLE PLAYER. You can play this foosball game online in either single-player mode or two-player mode. In single-player mode, it's you versus the computer. Press the W and S keys to control your team in this mode.
MULTIPLAYER. In two-player mode, you control one team using the W and S keys on the left side of the keyboard. Your friend controls the other team using the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys on the right side of the keyboard.
SAVED GAMES. This foosball game online has a neat "save" feature. Your progress in a game is automatically saved. That way, if you don't have time to finish a particulary foosball match, you can close it and resume later where you left off.
A LITTLE HISTORY. Foosball has been around longer than you might think. It was patented by Harold Thornton of the UK in 1921. Soccer was becoming very popular in Europe, so he decided to invent a version that people could play at home. A box of matches was his inspiration! Other inventors may have come up with a similar game independently.
Sports games like this foosball game online train important brain skills including concentration, reaction time, and visual perception. Play these games often to give your brain a boost.
