You don't need to know the state capitals for this game. Just the names and locations of the states themselves.
The rules for this US geography game are simple. A map of the United States is shown. You need to click the correct state on the map when the name of a state appears.
So the hard part is you first need to memorize the map of the United States. Before playing this game, study a map of the United States, such as this one, carefully.
When you think you know the locations of all the states, come back to this game. You'll do great.
When the map game first loads, a map of the United States is shown. The map is drawn in a sort of cartoon fashion. The state boundaries are shown, but the names of the states are not.
The names of states begin to appear at the top of the screen. For example, "Michigan" may appear. Your job is to click on the state on the map that is Michigan.
You'll earn 10 points for each correct answer. Each time you incorrectly label a state, you'll lose 5 points. If you name every US state correctly, you'll see a nice Congratulations message.
In my opinion, the small states in the Northeast are a bit too stylized on this map. But some people find it hard to tell the difference between the Midwestern states, too.
That's why it's critical to self-test in advance using a labeled map. Know which states are contiguous (touching) the others, and you'll do fine.
This USA geography game has a simple design, but it's a perfect way to determine how well you know the locations of the US states on a map. If you're a teacher, be sure to have your students test their knowledge using this map game.
